1) Make an appointment with a member of the University Archives staff by phoning, emailing or dropping
by the University Archives (please consult the blue box). This ensures a member of the staff is available to advise you
on your search and that any records requested from off-site storage locations are available for your next visit.
Note that the Reading Room resources are available for consultation without an appointment.
2) Consult our website. The on-line sources provide a range of possible starting points for your research.
Once you have found information that you would like to view, make a note of the particular files or items, and record all
the information that appears with the item, including any number or codes. Complete your request by submitting this information when you arrive at the Archives.
There is no fee for reference service at the McGill University Archives. However, the Archives gratefully accepts donations for the services provided. These donations assist us in the ongoing provision of reference services to clients outside McGill. Donations may be made directly to the McGill University Archives at the address noted above.
